Las Vegas (often informally abbreviated to "Vegas") is the most populous city in the state of Nevada, United States, the
seat of Clark County, and an internationally known vacation, shopping, entertainment, and gambling destination. It was
established in 1905 and officially became a city in 1911. It is the largest U.S. city founded in the 20th century.
The name Las Vegas is often applied to the unincorporated areas of Clark County that surround the city, especially the
resort areas on and near the Las Vegas Strip. This 4˝ mi (7.2 km) stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard is mostly outside the
Las Vegas city limits, in the unincorporated town of Paradise.
The center of gambling in the United States, Las Vegas is marketed as The Entertainment Capital of the World, also
commonly known as Sin City or Vice City, due to the popularity of legalized gambling, availability of alcoholic beverages
at any time (as is true throughout Nevada), and various forms and degrees of adult entertainment. The city's glamorous
image has made it a popular setting for films and television programs. Las Vegas is known for its exclusive neighborhoods and upscale homes that include Summerlin, Southwest Las Vegas,
North Las Vegas, Green Valley, Seven Hills, Anthem, Southern Highlands, Lake Las Vegas, Boulder City, and Luxury
highrises in Las Vegas. Summerlin
The upscale, sprawling master-planned community of Summerlin is the most popular new-home community in Las Vegas.
In fact, Summerlin is the most popular master-planned community in America. And with its extensive landscaping,
social clubs, and wide variety of community activities, it's not hard to see why.
Summerlin has many amenities. Summerlin has something to offer for everyone, from its eight golf courses to
its wellness classes to its social clubs. Summerlin has a wide variety of homes available, new and resale;
homes range from compact condominiums to multi-million dollar mansions. But with so many homes -- hundreds of
models of new homes and thousands of resale homes -- available, it's best to have an experienced guide to help
you in your search. Southwest Las Vegas
This rapidly-growing area features some of the most unique neighborhoods in Las Vegas. The Lakes is an
established community featuring its own private lakes. Peccole Ranch is a relatively new community with a
wide range of homes available. Canyon Gate and Spanish Trail, both golfing communities, are two of the most
exclusive areas of the Valley, yet their homes are within reach of many buyers. Spring Valley, in the shadow
of Spanish Trail, has many great resale homes and a great location. And new areas such as Rhodes Ranch and
Monaco offer an upscale lifestyle at affordable prices. Northwest Las Vegas
The Northwest area of the Las Vegas Valley has everything from country-club homes to condominiums to rural
ranches, and everything in-between. From small neighborhoods full of character to the established master-planned
communities of Queensridge, Painted Desert, and Desert Shores (featuring its own lakes), to brand-new communities
such as Elkhorn Springs and Lynbrook, the Northwest area is one of the most popular in the valley. North Las Vegas/Northeast Las Vegas
North Las Vegas is experiencing incredible growth; this independent city has more than doubled in size in the
past ten years. So many people are moving here because of the many highly affordable new homes--many priced
below $140,000; North Las Vegas has as a result become a home for many families just starting out. The northeast
area of the Valley is close to Nellis AFB and is home to many military families; both new and resale homes are
available in the area. Green Valley
The second-largest master-planned community in Las Vegas and the center of the rapidly-growing southeast area
of the valley, Green Valley is more established and offers a wide variety of resale homes. Some new homes are
also available. Green Valley has abundant recreation, culture, shopping, dining, and business amenities. It also
has some of Las Vegas´ best schools, great golf courses, convenient shopping, and good access to UNLV and the
central city. Seven Hills/Anthem/Southern Highlands
The fastest-growing section of Las Vegas, the far southern end of the valley has a wide range of new homes and
some of the best views in the valley. Seven Hills is a beautiful masterplan, with lush landscaping, great parks,
and a Mediterranean theme. Anthem is a new community with a grand entrance and spectacular views; it features a
Sun City community (for seniors only) as well as a country club and family communities. In addition, other nearby
communities such as MacDonald Ranch offer great value and great views.
Southern Highlands is an exciting new master-planned community in the southern foothills of the Las Vegas Valley.
It features a wide range of homes, from the affordable to the exclusive, as well as offices, shops, schools, parks,
and more. It further features the Robert Trent Jones-designed Southern Highlands Golf Club, which in just a few
months has become one of the most renowned golf courses in the West. Lake Las Vegas
By far the most spectacular community in Las Vegas, Lake Las Vegas features a large man-made lake, Jack Nicklaus
golf courses, two world-class resorts, and the most spectacular homes in Las Vegas. Home sites, new homes, and
resale homes are available. Additionally, Lake Las Vegas is close to both central Las Vegas and Lake Mead. This
is one neighborhood not to be missed. Boulder City
This city, 20 minutes from central Las Vegas, offer more of a small-town lifestyle than other parts of Las Vegas.
This small, close-knit community is the only place in Nevada where gaming is not allowed, giving Boulder City a
unique. In addition, it is very close to Hoover Dam and Lake Mead and has great lake views.
Luxury Highrises
A new addition to Las Vegas´ housing choices are a number of new luxury high-rise residences. Close to the Strip,
entertainment, shopping, and fine dining, these residences have it all. Some complexes, such as Park Towers and
Turnberry Place, even offer fitness centers, concierge services, and limousine transportation. Luxury highrises
are great second residences for those who live elsewhere or great primary residences for busy professionals who
spend a lot of time in the central city.
